Wednesday, October 10th, 2007, at 0800 hours, members of the Cochranville Fire
Company traveled to the Octorara Primary Learning Center and Elementary School with
QRS 27 pulling the fire prevention trailer, Engine 27-5 and Rescue 27 to talk about fire
prevention for the day. Apparatus and members from Parkesburg (Station 28,) Atglen
(Station 26,) Pomeroy (Station 29,) Lancaster County, Christiana (Station 5-2) and Gap
(Station 4-2) also joined us for the day.
While we were there, we discussed kitchen safety, showed them how to stop, drop and roll.
We also taught them how important it is to have a second way out. They were able to look
over the apparatus and ask us questions. Students at the Primary Learning Center got to
see Tanker the dog and got to crawl through the fire prevention trailer which was full of
smoke.
While we were there, at 1001 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company, Ambulance 28 and
Medic 94 were alerted for an Auto Accident reported serious in the Turkey Hill parking lot
at Route 10 and Route 41. Before arriving on scene, the report had changed to seizures in
a vehicle in the parking lot. The patient was transported to Jennersville Regional
Hospital. Units cleared the scene and returned to the schools at 1023 hours.
At 1500 hours, all units cleared the schools and returned to their stations. We would like
to thank all of the fire companies that helped us with this event, and we are looking
forward to working with them again next year.
