Automobile into a Telephone Pole

Friday, April 11th, 2008 at 0503 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company, Lancaster County
Ambulance 5-2-1 and Medic 94 were alerted for an automobile accident reported serious
on Route 10 North of Route 41 in West Fallowfield Township. A few minutes after
dispatch, the location changed to in front of 3280 Limestone Road in Highland Township.
With the location change, Ambulance 28 was added to the incident.
The caller reported that the vehicle was overturned and that the vehicle was tangled in
power lines, but that the subject in the vehicle was conscious.
Deputy Lapp arrived on scene at 0505 hours, reporting that the vehicle was on it's side
and wires were arching.
Engine 27-1 arrived on scene at 0511 hours, Medic 94 and Rescue 27 at 0516 hours.
All emergency responders staged away from the vehicle until PECO arrived for safety.
PECO arrived around 0535 hours. After PECO informed us that it was safe to be near the
wire, firefighters broke the vehicle's sun roof and the patient got out of the vehicle.
After the Engine, Rescue and Ambulances cleared the scene, Traffic 27, QRS 27 along with
others stayed to handle traffic control. Route 10 was to be closed from Friendship Church
Road to Gum Tree Road until a new pole was put in place.
Thank you to FM45 for handling traffic control at Route 10 and Friendship Church Road
until QRS 27 arrived.
