One Flown From Gum Tree Road Accident

Friday, June 6th, 2008 at 1918 hours the Cochranville Fire Company, Ambulance 28, and Medic 94
were alerted for an auto accident on Gum Tree Road in the area of Gibble Road in Highland
Township.  

Due to the fact that many members were at the Station cleaning the apparatus for the West Chester
parade to follow the next day, Engine 27-1 responded with
five within three minutes.  QRS 27 also
responded with five within four minutes.  

Police arrived on scene at 1923 hours advising of a serious tra
uma.  Engine 27-1 arrived on scene
one minute later
assuming "Gum Tree Command" and requested a helicopter be put on stand by.  

Engine 27-1's crew handled patient care until the ambulance arrived.  The crew from the QRS
stabilized the vehicle.  Penn Star 2 was advised to fly per 94-27.  Rescue 27 arrived on scene
at
1928
and established the "Gum Tree Landing Zone."  Penn Star 2 arrived on scene, the patient was
loaded,
and Penn Star 2 was en route to Lancaster General Hospital at 1954 hours.

All 27 units returned available by 2
004 hours.
