A Busy Day in Nottingham

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008 at 1307 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company, was alerted for an
engine to relocate to the Union Fire Company #1 0f Oxford (Station 21,) while they were
out fighting a large brush fire in Nottingham Park . Two minutes later Engine 27-5, with
five personnel, made the response. Engine 27-5, along with Brush 25 and Engine 24-2,
stood-by in Station 21 for a short time before being called to the scene.
Once on scene, the crew and driver were split. The crew was sent on Brush 25 to the
middle of the park to assist with fire attack. For three hours, crews worked to contain the
fire which consumed almost 100 acres. Engine 27-5 was used to supply brush trucks, and
pumped over 5000 gallons.
After the fire was contained and forestry crews were on scene mopping up, Engine 27-5
was released at 1804 hours.

Later that night, at 1943 hours, the Union Fire Company #1 of Oxford, Community Fire
Company of Rising Sun and West Grove Fire Companies were alerted for a building fire at
the Hopewell School on Garfield Street in Oxford Borough.
Minutes later the working fire dispatch was made adding Cochranville Fire Company's
Rescue 27, Truck 5-7 and Medic 94.
Rescue 27 responded with eight, but due to the quick knock down of the fire, was recalled
when they reached the intersection of Route 896 and Route 10.
