On Saturday May 5, 2007 Rescue 27 with a crew of four went to Chester County Station 4
(Malvern) to assist in their annual open house. During the afternoon, the rescue crew
along with the crew from Rescue 22 (West Grove) provided demonstration of vehicle
rescue on two cars. While not actively performing vehicle rescue, the members acted as
tour guides to local residents that stopped in to see the vast array of equipment on
display at this event.
The day’s events concluded with a mock vehicle accident. With the assistance of an EMS
crew from Malvern, Rescue 27 and Rescue 22 preformed a rescue operation on a staged
three vehicle accident. The crews divided and work together to perform a roof flap on a
vehicle on its side, take the roof of another vehicle, while taken the driver doors and
flapping the roof of the third car. Two patients were removed from the accident scene by
EMS. The total scenario took about 20 minutes.
The members in attendance would like to thank the members from Station 4 for their
hospitality and allowing us the chance to assist their company with a great public
education event.
