2007 Spring Fire Fighter 1 Graduation

The Cochranville Fire Company is proud to announce that one member, Jared Null,
completed and passed his Fire Fighter I. During this 7 week period Jared was able to
complete the 160 required hours of training at the same time he was completing his
senior year of high school. Jared attended the County graduation on June 26th with his
proud parents Past Chief H. Dain Null and Gwen Null.
The Chester County Fire Training School conducted their graduation on Tuesday June 26,
2007 at the Wagontown Fire Company (Station 35). The graduation was held for the two
spring Fire Fighter I classes. The graduation ceremonies were for the first time opened
and closed by the Chester County Emerald Society Pipe Band.
The night began with opening remarks from Training Coordinator John Weer and DES
Director Ed Atkins. Keynote speaker Chief Ed Grugan, Deputy Chief of the Philadelphia
Fire Department addressed the graduates and the large crowd of family, friends, and
bothers/sisters of the fire service. Awards were presented by DES Deputy Director
Crowding and class coordinator Instructor John DeMarco.
The presentation of the class certificates were conducted by Edward Atkins, Chief
Grugan, and George “Beau” Crowding. Chief Rob Linnenbaugh had the honor of
presenting Jared with his certificates during the presentation ceremony.
Additionally, there were twelve Chester county companies honored for their level of
participation of the state level certification program. The Westwood Fire Company and
Chief Sly also received an award for being the only Department of Health certified Rescue
in Chester County.
After the closing remarks the evening ended refreshment and social time for the
graduates, family, and members in attendance. A special thanks goes out to the county
fire training group and DES from an excellent graduation.
