Saturday morning, June 6th, 2009, Engine 27-3, Rescue 27 and QRS 27 traveled to Quarryville to
participate in the 89th Annual Lancaster County Fireman’s Association Convention and Parade.

For the past month, crews have spent many hours preparing the 1983 Hahn, 2006 Pierce Arrow XT
and 2002 Ford Excursion for the competition.  Engine 3 was entered into the Best Appearing &
Equipped Engine 1980 – 1989, the Rescue into the Best Appearing & Equipped Rescue and the
QRS into the Best Appearing & Equipped Special Service Unit.

After arriving at the Smith Middle School, the apparatus was lined up to be judged by the Delaware
Valley Judges.  While waiting, all last minute touch-ups were made to the apparatus.  After all of the
Cochranville units were judged, we lined up in the parade staging area.  Since there was still time
to waste before the parade started, we took a walk around to check out the other participating
companies and grabbed a bite to eat.

The parade started shortly after 2 pm and ran through the streets of Quarryville.  During the
parade, the units and members were judged again.

Following the parade, participating units returned to await the judges’ results.

Engine 27-3 received the 1st place trophy for the Best Appearing & Equipped Engine 1980 – 1989.
Rescue 27 received the 1st place trophy for the Best Appearing & Equipped Rescue.  QRS 27
received the 3rd place trophy for the Best Appearing & Equipped Special Service Unit.  Rescue 27
also received a trophy for the Best Appearing & Equipped Pierce Apparatus.  We are very pleased
to announce that we received the Best Appearing Out Of County Company (3 or More Pieces)
trophy.

All units returned back to town before 6 pm.

Thank you to all of the members who helped us prepare for this event!  It was well worth it!
