April 5th, 2008
Saturday, April 5th, 2008, members of the Cochranville Fire Company participated in a
full scale mass casualty exercise at the Cochranville Fire Company. The exercise was a
culmination of many nights of training on Incident Command Systems and SMART Triage
Systems. Mutual aid for this drill came from QRS/Engine 26-3, along with ambulances
from the Union Fire Company of Oxford 21, West Grove 22, Avondale 23, Parkesburg 28,
Pomeroy 29, and Christiana Lancaster County Ambulance 5-2. The scenario consisted of a
pickup truck with 2 occupants and multiple dogs that had collided with a school bus.
Captain 27-A served as the incident command and EMT Dave Rathbun from Christiana
Community Ambulance Association was the EMS Commander. Twenty-six patients were
triaged, treated and transported within an hour. Special thanks to Steve Webb from
Chester County Training and Everitt Binns along with Binns and Associates for their help
in this informational and exciting training program.
