Barn Fire - 2200 Block of Steelville Road

At 1514, Station 27, 26, 28 and Lancaster Tanker 5-1 were dispatched for a barn fire on the 2200 Block of Steelville Road. Deputy 27 went on scene with a 50 by 50 barn, fire showing. Engine 27-5 was first in and laid the 5 inch up the driveway. Engine 27-1 followed and laid it's 5 inch from the driveway to a pond in a nearby pasture. Tower 28 and Engine 26-3 arrived shortly after the 27 units and went into service trying to knock the fire. Soon after his arrival, Deputy 27 called for a second alarm and numerous brush trucks. The intense wind was starting brush fires as far away as three miles. The fire was placed under control at 1848, the last unit cleared at 2247. The barn ended up being a total loss, however a few silos were saved. Units - 27 Mutual Aid - 26, 28, 21, 12, 22, 23, 44, 37, LANCO 4-2, 5-1, AND 5-2 Standby's at 27 - 36 AND CECIL 8
